New phone cases...and a hot cup of coffee!

The original phone case I created has had a bit of a revamp, and this is what I have come up with -

This case is lovely and padded, quilted and has a cute love-heart ribbon sewn down the middle.  I decided to add a flap which secures with velcro. 

This one along with a differently embellished one have been placed in my Folksy shop.  Please take a look!

This weekend I also set about making a cafetiere cosy.  I wanted something that was practical (i.e. keeps the pot warm) but that was also pretty and fitted in with our kitchen.  I used 2 matching patchwork panels of some lovely fabrics and teamed them up with a contrasting chocolate brown cotton.

All in all, a successful sewing weekend I think. 

Now everything has a place....

Finally, - instead of having to dig around in my scrap box to find my sewing tools, I've made a 'Sewing Tool Wrap' to keep all my tools in one place. 

I had been thinking about a way to keep all my tools to hand for a while and finally worked out exactly what I was going to do.

A nice padded quilty soft ‘jacket’ –

Pockets wide and deep enough to hold all the essentials - scissors, rotary cutter, ruler, pencils, notebook etc. 

And little pockets to hold little things – tape measure, chalk…

Some cute little button detail on the strap - which secures on the back with Velcro, and some lovely hot pink bias binding. 

I am very pleased to say that it actually turned out exactly as I imagined – if not slightly better J   I’m really happy with how the quilting turned out (I quilted straight lines down random stripes on the external fabric) and I think the binding gives it a really professional looking finish.

All snuggly and warm!

I have been planning to make a case for my iPod for a while now, and having finally bought all the necessary bits and pieces I needed for it, here is the finished result -

As usual, I didn't use any instructions for making this - I just made it up as I went along, and probably did things the hard way!  Im sure there is an easier way, if only I'd thought about it properly.  I'll simplify it for next time and once I've mastered making them hopefully I'll be able to put some in my Folksy shop (er, once I've opened it that is). 

Don't you just love wavy ricrac? ....and look - a teeny tiny key fob.  If I attach a small loop inside my handbag to attach the key fob to my iPod will always be exactly where I leave it instead of lying in amongst all the junk in the bottom of my bag.

Just look how cosy and warm my iPod looks inside!


And the best bit? - I managed to make the whole thing during nap time!

Happy Christmas - from me, to me!

A nice little surprise arrived on my doorstep on Christmas Eve - my very first order from The Fat Quarter Shop!  I had ordered it a few weeks earlier and had no idea when it would arrive since it was travelling all the way from the US to the UK over the Christmas period. 

Here's what was inside -

A great little selection of patterned prints, my first charm pack and some giant ric rac. Not quite sure where I'll begin, but I'll have fun trying to work out what to make and which fabrics will go together with the ones already in my stash.  Watch this space!
