After my last post where I showed you my fabulous goodies I received in the pay it forward from Nikki, it seems I wasn't the only one completely bowled over by the amazing results from stamping on fabric.
Desperate to give it a try myself I quickly ordered some of the correct ink (Versacraft, which you heat set with an iron) and the same stamps Nikki used (sewing themed). I also dug out some of my old stamps I had from my scrapbooking/papercrafting days and had a play about with some scraps of fabric.
I was also working away on a t-shirt order for a customer today, and a special request from our 2 year old - a personalised t-shirt with a motorbike on it! Eek, not done a motorbike before, cue a little bit of a Google search! I quickly managed to sketch a simple motorbike shape and used Bondaweb to cut shapes out of fabrics.....Now what's this got to do with the stamping I hear you ask?....Just wait...
The t-shirt was done, but it needed....something....Then I had a *boom* moment! ~~BRAINWAVE!~~
I dug out some alphabet stamps I had and quickly added the finishing touch to the t-shirt. Here it is - can you spot the extra special addition?
It's here! -
I totally love it! (I'm allowed to say that, right?)
And I didn't stop there, I also added this little bit of stamping on the neckline at the back -
I can't wait to see him in it. I showed him it tonight and he was delighted with it! He'll be wearing it tomorrow so I'll try to get a half decent photo of him (he won't stand still for 2 seconds!).
The only thing is that I haven't used this ink before...so the true test will be after it's been in the washing machine...and whether all my stamping is still there!
PS. Don't forget that personalised t-shirts are also available to order in my Folksy shop, I can see the stamping becoming a feature of many future designs :)
Date Roll

When flicking though an old Australian Women's Weekly cookbook, I came
across a recipe for Date Roll that I used to bake a long time ago. Date

OMG! I LOVE this!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever Rachael - it's gorgeous!!!
I'm a little bit scared of stamping on fabric to be honest - I'm naturally clumsy, so I'll probably smudge it!!!
This t-shirt is fab! I think you should add this to your personalised range!
I feel another order coming on :o) xxx
Love it! Please may I have one?! (although I think perhaps I'm a little old for my name on my t-shirt?!)
ReplyDeleteSo cute though, looking forward to seeing Joshua wearing it....if you manage to get him to stand still for 2 seconds! x x x
it looks great Rachael, love the stamping and the motorbike! I've washed stamped fabric before and it came out fine so there shouldn't be any problems with it disappearing.
ReplyDeleteLove it - the motorbike looks fantastic, and the 'vroom vroom' really adds something! Brilliant!

That's fabulous! I'd love to try stamping (unrolls a billion foot long to do list and adds to bottom!) :D do you realise the colours on the T-shirt (and the vehicle theme) would match perfectly with "those" trousers!!?? :)) xx
ReplyDeleteLove how the stamping turned out! Hope it survives the wash! This is such a great and easy way to add little text features (that don't require sewing!) Great bike too, Google is the best reference :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! It looks brilliant...clever you

The bike is fantastic. Love the finished article! Want to know how it lasts in the wash now?
ReplyDeleteHey Rachael, the t shirt looks wonderful, great bike and the stamping really finishes it off.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are allowed to say 'you totally love it'......
Will have to check out some of that ink......ooh the ideas are coming thick and fast.

Love the t-shirt! The stamping looks fantastic, I'd love to hear how it is after the wash. I tried fabric paint once and it ended out washing out after 3 washes, would love to try the stamping though! :) x
